A Seaside Half:
Leave Room for Speed, Not Injury
I chose country roads and the sea over a city course for my first race of the second half of 2026. The first goal is an injury-free finish; if I feel light, I may follow the 2:00 or 1:55 pacer and knock gently on the door of a PB.

At last, it is time for my first race of the second half of 2026. I wanted country roads rather than a city course, and the sea alongside them would make it even better. That led me to the 26th Ganghwa Beach Marathon. Tomorrow, I will run its half-marathon course along the Ganghwa coast.
The first goal is to finish without injury. If I feel light in the opening kilometres, however, the plan may change a little. Should the 2:00 or 1:55 pacer come by, I may cautiously have a go at a personal best. I will leave the door open for ambition and keep the door to overreaching firmly shut. The larger goal is my first full marathon on November 8, so tomorrow's best result is one that brings me safely back to the next training run.

A Sierra Designs singlet and Nike running shorts. An extra-large running cap, FEELY sunglasses, and SHOKZ headphones. A COROS PACE 3 on the wrist, R1 socks, and Summertech calf sleeves. Finally, the Saucony Endorphin Pro 5 on my feet. The lineup is long, but the plan is simple: do not overreach, and only run fast when the body agrees.
