My Ankle Rests,
My Dreams Run Chicago
I rolled my ankle on Tuesday and am still resting this Saturday. Tomorrow's Seoul Race half marathon will go on without me. The days feel a little empty without running, but tonight I hope to run Chicago in my dreams.

I have been resting since rolling my ankle on Tuesday. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday: the fifth calendar day, with four days elapsed since the injury. I know I should not become impatient, but life feels a little dull without running. I used to squeeze runs into whatever time I could find. Now that I cannot run, that time feels empty.
I will miss tomorrow's Seoul Race half marathon. It is disappointing, but forcing myself to start now could affect the more important race ahead and my ability to keep running healthily afterward. For this one, I am letting go of the urge to stand on the start line. I miss running, and I want an ankle that lets me enjoy it again.
Skipping tomorrow's Seoul Race half marathon
There is a more important race ahead, and more running after that. Rather than rushing to set a return date, I am waiting until I can run healthily again.
Tomorrow brings the Seoul Race and, in the United States, the Chicago Marathon, an Abbott World Marathon Majors race. A friend I trained with is racing in Chicago. I am cheering from afar for a good day on the course. Someday, if the opportunity comes, I would love to run there too. Tonight I hope to dream of jogging, or better still, of running happily through Chicago. Tonight's start line is in a dream.
