After a Week,
Back on the Path
After last Tuesday's ankle mishap, I rested for a week. This Tuesday I went back out. I am not fully recovered, so I started with walking and jogged only about 700 metres. The welcome result was not the distance, but the absence of pain.

- Jogging pace

I rested for a week after rolling my ankle last Tuesday, then returned to the path this Tuesday. I am not 100% recovered. Still, the ankle felt lighter and there was no pain, so I went out to walk first. Simply being back on the path felt good.
The session totaled 4.01 km in 47 minutes. Most of it was walking; only about 700 metres was a gentle jog at 7:30 per kilometre. Thankfully, I felt no pain during it. Tomorrow I am thinking of starting with jogging and adding a little distance, depending on how the ankle feels. The race matters, but recovering properly before I start matters more. Today goes down as a light first session back.
Today's gentle movement ended without pain
I am not declaring full recovery yet. A walk and a short jog were enough to loosen up today. I will decide on the next outing after checking tomorrow's ankle. A healthy race start comes first.

While looking at news of Brooks' new models, I spotted a discount on an existing one. I was upset about rolling my ankle and somehow felt I ought to try new shoes. Yes, this column is called Gear Blame. So I bought the Brooks Cascadia 19 GTX, the GORE-TEX version. They looked too good. My ankle took a week off; my shopping cart did not. This is a secret, though writing it in Juro Tongsin may have lowered its security clearance a little.
