Close August at 112.72 km,
Open September at 200 km
I missed the 150 km goal, but I completed the first month of my first-marathon project. August closes at 112.72 km; September opens with my first attempt at 200 km.

My August goal was 150 km, but the final total was 112.72 km. I had planned to run 20 km on the last day and at least reach 130 km, but the rain never let up. I paced briskly around the living room for roughly 500 metres instead; it was movement, just not enough to erase a 37.28 km shortfall. I am not completely satisfied, but the first month of my marathon project is complete.
Travel and days when running was impossible reduced the total, and I kept the increase conservative rather than shocking my body with too much training at once. September's goal is a first-ever 200 km. Online, 200 km can sound almost modest beside runners logging 300 or 400, but it is still a dream distance for me. Their mileage can wait; first I need to run my own 200 km with energy and enough restraint to arrive safely at the marathon.

The marathon shortlist currently holds the carbon-plated Endorphin Pro 5 and the comfortable Brooks Glycerin 22. One may be more speed-focused than my marathon pace needs; the other feels good but carries more weight. I already sold the Superblast 3 because it felt too large. Now the Saucony Endorphin Azura keeps waving from a shoe-rack space that is not actually empty. The problem is simple: I already own plenty of shoes. Readers, should I buy it or walk away?
