Holding Back the Pace,
Hiding the Shoes
Last night I jogged 10.08 km. It is time to taper, so I kept reining in a pace that wanted to creep up. October's total is 142.38 km. For my first full marathon in Fukuoka, finishing comes before chasing a time. Meanwhile, the new shoes on top of the wardrobe remain undiscovered.

Last night I jogged 10.08 km. It is time to taper, so I am planning to focus on easy jogging. Even so, I kept finding my pace creeping up without meaning to. Reining it back in took a little concentration. The task was not to run faster, but to keep it easy.
I am running the full Fukuoka Marathon on November 8, ten days from today. I plan to settle my body and manage my condition with occasional gentle jogs during the remaining days. This is my first full marathon, not an attempt at a spectacular time. Rather than giving absolutely everything, I want to finish with enough left for the things I need to do afterward.
A little extra ambition: under five hours
My first goal is to reach the finish safely. I would like to come in under five hours if I can, but I am not planning to force a time. For the next marathon, I can build a little more ambition alongside the training. For this one, the goal is to finish.

The Brooks Cascadia 19 GTX I bought last time is still safely stored away. Nobody has discovered the new-shoe purchase yet. The box is sitting on top of the wardrobe. I will need to take them out for trail running someday, and perhaps that is when I will get caught. But not now. I am still safe.
